So Where do people go to be in nude?
 
There are many options for clothes-free recreation.

Public Lands: Managers of public lands such as the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service, etc. generally view nude recreation as "a legitimate activity" - when conducted with discretion and sensitivity for the varying values of others. If you want to be sure, contact the manager of the area you wish to visit. Hiking into the backcountry and spending time nude is a great activity, and many opportunities for doing so exist.
 
Rivers: Canoeing or tubing rivers also provide great opportunities to experience naturism, find your own isolated sand bar and enjoy the sun.
 
Beaches: Nude beaches are popular spots for clothing-optional recreation and range from small private coves, rocky ledges, to mile long stretches of sand.
 
Clubs, Parks, Resorts:
Naturist clubs, parks, and resorts are wonderful for enjoying time nude and provide the opportunity to socialize with others and play sports such as volleyball and tennis. Most have hot tubs, swimming pools, camping areas, and a gamerooms.
 
Pools: Many naturist groups rent local swimming pools for nude swim nights.

Let me tell you how I became involved in social nudism. Back in the early eighties I was in the navy stationed in San Diego. Five miles from the base was a famous clothing optional beach (Blacks Beach).

I finally made it to the bottom and the beach was packed with mostly nude people. There were so many people there that it was hard to find a place to spread out my towel. It was a hot day in the middle of July, and to escape the heat I decided to take a dip. That is when I took my suit off for the first time. After my swim I decided to leave my suit off. Being a young sailor I was worried that I would get an erection and embarrass myself. To my relief it never happened.

Being fairly comfortable with being nude I decided to walk around. There were people playing volley ball others playing hackie sack. Farther down the beach there were people body painting others. Some of the body art was very impressive.

Everybody that I met seemed friendly, and soon I forgot that I was nude. I had one of the best times that day joking and laughing with my fellow nudist.

When I finally looked at my watch I could not believe that I had spent the whole day there, and I knew that it was time to scale the cliff back to the car (which I was not looking forward too). I learned later that there was an easier way to get to the beach, on the south side there is a paved road that winds down to the bottom. It is perfect for people like myself that have a fear of heights. You can also walk along the shore line from Torrey Pines State Beach.

I visited the beach every chance that I could. I made a lot of friends at the beach, male and female. Then came the day when I served my time and was discharged from the navy. I headed home to Wisconsin were I figured my nudist days were over for I knew of no place in the state were you can be sociably nude.

Several years later I headed back to sunny California with my new bride. While we were at La Jolla Beach I suggested going to Blacks Beach. I was not sure how she would react, but to my surprise she thought that it was a good idea.

My wife and I had a wonderful time. The warm sun beating down on our naked bodies. Splashing and playing in the ocean.

Much too soon it was time to go home. Once again I had to say goodbye to the freedom of Blacks Beach. While my wife and I spent a lot of time nude inside our home, we didn't know of any place outdoors where we could be nude.

Not so long ago we bought a new computer. Soon we had access to the information highway. I came across a news site on nudism and learned of the Naturist Society in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The very same day I wrote to them and soon I received a letter back. They informed me that there are two places to be socially nude in Wisconsin. One was Valley View Recreational Club in Cambridge, Wisconsin. The other is Mazo Beach in Mazomanie, Wisconsin.

It was the middle of January at that time and very cold, outdoor nudity was far from my mind. Then spring arrived and a fellow worker said that she was going camping for the weekend. Another co-worker told her that her husband and her go camping in the nude at Mazo Beach. I decided that on my next day off I would go for a motorcycle ride and check mazo out for myself.

Although it was a Saturday, I was still surprised to find that the beach was packed, and like Blacks Beach the people there were friendly. Some people next to me were grilling their lunch and asked me to join them. I accepted and made some good friends that day. I have to drive about 90 miles to get to Mazo, but it is well worth it. I try to go there every week, and now that fall is falling upon us I have to tell you that happiness is no tan lines.
